Winner of the Broadway World 2015 New York Cabaret Award for Best Alternative Cabaret Show.

Check out Carol Lipnik's recent review by Stephen Holden in The New York Times.

Carol Lipnik's music does more than evoke a shadow-world of mysterious, often misunderstood creatures, from sideshow freaks and b-movie monsters to love's obsessive victims. It creates that world, bringing it into audible being through her stunningly versatile four-octave voice and expressive, impeccably crafted songs. "When I was a mermaid, I tried to pull you under," she sings in "Undine Outwitted," and her live shows do just that, drawing audiences in with an intimacy and intensity that is both theatrical and deeply musical.

Her new album "Almost Back to Normal", blends lush, mystical soundscapes with hints of the baroque, jaunty Brecht-Weill cabaret, old-school soul music and the avant garde, all of it imbued with Carol's signature phantasmagoria and droll, absurdist humor.

"What separates Ms. Lipnik from every other conjurer of the otherworldly is her phenomenal voice. With a four-octave range, impeccable pitch and several distinct personalities within that voice, Ms. Lipnik evoked singers as disparate as Diamanda Galás, Maude Maggart, Yma Sumac and the yodeling Joni Mitchell. Her instrument is, in a word, phenomenal." Stephen Holden, NY Times

"Lipnik commands her audience like a sort of downtown Joni Mitchell -- a witch whose sound is as powerful as it is strange."  Tyler Coates, The Village Voice

"Another lady lighting up the performance scene, Carol Lipnik is a wonderful amalgam of Joni Mitchell, Lotte Lenya, Theda Bara, Yma Sumas, and Stevie Nicks--but totally original."  Michael Musto, Out Magazine
